Endodontics

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with diseases related to the dental pulp (the living tissue containing blood vessels and nerves inside the tooth) and the surrounding tissues of the tooth. It focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and injuries to the pulp tissue.

The goal of endodontics is to preserve and maintain the natural teeth of patients as much as possible within the oral cavity. Additionally, we provide emergency treatment options for patients experiencing severe pain and swelling.

In our clinic, we perform root canal treatments for teeth that have suffered damage to the dental pulp and surrounding tissues due to trauma, fractures, advanced decay, and infections. Alongside this, we also offer vital pulp treatments to maintain the vitality of the tooth and regeneration treatments aimed at creating new living tissue within the root.

Conservative dental procedures can be categorized under several headings:

Posterior Region Aesthetic Fillings:
These are evaluated as 1, 2, or 3 surface fillings depending on the number of surfaces on the tooth that need restoration.

Anterior Region Aesthetic Fillings:
In cases of decay or fractures in the front region, the success of aesthetic fillings is determined by their ability to match the color and light-transmitting properties of the tooth.

Closure of Diastema in the Anterior Region (Bonding):
The aesthetic closure of natural gaps between anterior teeth using composite filling materials for cosmetic purposes.

Indirect Restoration:
This is a specialized procedure applied especially to teeth with canal treatment or significant substance loss due to fractures. A restoration, prepared from a material with 73% ceramic content in a laboratory environment after taking measurements, is bonded to the tooth in the second session using a very strong adhesive. It is a highly reliable method against problems commonly encountered in standard filling procedures, such as filling dislodgement, breakage, or tooth fractures.

Endodontics is the general term for root canal treatments. Root canal treatment is often perceived by many in the community as a very painful procedure. However, with local anesthesia, root canal treatment can be performed completely painlessly. The decision for root canal treatment is made when the living part of the tooth, which contains nerves and blood vessels located in the pulp, is affected and loses its vitality due to decay or trauma. Even severely inflamed teeth can be treated with root canal therapy.

Root canal treatment can be completed in a single session, or it may take several sessions depending on the condition of the tooth and the dentist’s decision. With root canal treatment, a tooth that has lost its vitality can be preserved in a healthy and painless manner in the oral cavity and can continue to function properly.

It would not be wrong to say that root canal treatment is the most detailed procedure in dentistry. Therefore, experience, attention, and technological equipment are essential for root canal treatment.
